Vashu Bhagnani’s company Pooja Entertainment has filed a Rs 400 crore case against Tips Company, Ramesh Taurani, Kumar S Taurani and filmmaker David Dhawan. The case has been filed in the Bombay High Court. It is alleged that David Dhawan’s upcoming film ‘Hey Jawani To Ishq Hona Hai’ is misusing two superhit songs from Vashu Bhagnani’s 1999 hit film Biwi No.1.
Pooja Entertainment has requested the court to immediately ban the release of the film, its songs and all promotional items so that these songs cannot be seen or heard anywhere. The main reason for this whole controversy is related to the use of the songs ‘Chunri Chunri’ and ‘Ishq Sona Hai’.
Vashu Bhagnani’s lawyer has said that the issue of money and song rights has not been resolved with the TIPS company for a long time. In the olden days, film song deals were done as per the agreement. At that time, in the contract with the TIPS company, he got only the audio rights, i.e. the right to play the song.
In the year 2018, TIPS Company sent an email asking for the visual rights i.e. video rights of these songs. Vashu Bhagnani replied to that email but no agreement could be reached between the two companies regarding the video rights.

A challenge to show evidence in court
Now Pooja Entertainment has sent a notice to Tips Company. By this notice he has completely extinguished the old audio rights of the songs given to Tips. This means that the TIPS company will no longer be able to use these songs in the new film at all. The lawyer has made it clear that if the TIPS company claims to be the real owner of these songs, it should show its papers in court. He says that the truth will definitely come out to everyone and they will get justice.
An additional penalty of 100 crores was sought
Pooja Entertainment says that two songs from ‘Bwi No 1’ are being used in David Dhawan’s new film and the makers have no rights over them, hence these songs should be removed from the film and its advertisements immediately. The name of the film is also derived from a line from the song ‘Ishq Sona Hai’, so Pooja Entertainment has demanded that the name of the film should also be changed. Along with this, he has also made it clear that if Tips and David Dhawan do not believe him, they will have to pay a separate penalty of Rs 100 crore as damages.

TIPS reacts to company allegations
On the other hand, Ramesh Taurani of Tips Company says that all the music and audio rights of these songs are with his company. He issued a statement terming all the allegations of Vashu Bhagnani as completely false and baseless. The film is directed by David Dhawan and will feature Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde and Mrinal Thakur in lead roles. The film is releasing in theaters on June 5.
