A case has been registered against Hariani folk singer Masoom Sharma at Dalanwala police station in Dehradun. A cultural program was organized at DAV PG College on April 1. Masoom Sharma allegedly abused and used offensive language in the programme. A person named Pranchal Nauni has filed a police complaint against him. The complainant says that Masoom Sharma’s language has hurt the students present there and the general public.

Dehradun police have registered a case against Masoom Sharma under section 296, 352, 79 and section 351. He is accused of indecent acts, breach of peace, insult, insult to women and criminal intimidation. Dehradun Police has said that necessary legal action will be taken after investigation.

Mahila Ayog has issued a notice

Haryana State Women Commission has sent a notice to Masoom Sharma in this matter. He will have to appear in person before the commission chairman in Panchkula on April 18 at 11 am. Apart from this, they will also have to give a written explanation of the entire matter.

Masoom Sharma is in double trouble

Masoom Sharma is now targeted by both Haryana State Commission and Dehradun Police. The Haryana Women Commission has taken this action under Section 10(1)(f) and 10(1)(h) of the Haryana State Women Commission Act, 2012. If Masoom Sharma does not comply with the notice, appropriate action may be taken against him. Uttarakhand Police has also issued a notice in this matter and started investigation.

Masoom Sharma has been controversial before

Masoom Sharma has been in controversies before. He insulted the former sarpanch from the stage during a program in February itself. He said, ‘Be it Sarpanch, MLA, Minister, I don’t believe anything in my singing program. Even if you are a sarpanch, sit and watch my performance.

There was an uproar over this statement of Masoom Sharma. The Haryana Sarpanch Association warned of statewide protests against him and he later apologized. Haryana government has banned some controversial songs of Masoom Sharma. He is accused of promoting a gun culture. There have also been reports of clashes between police, crowds and security personnel during their events.
