First the threat of bombing, then the declaration of ceasefire, Donald Trump is confused on Iran
US President Donald Trump has made a big announcement on Wednesday. He has extended the ongoing ceasefire agreement with Iran. Donald Trump said Iran has yet to come up with a negotiation proposal that everyone agrees on and that is acceptable to all of Iran. Therefore, on the appeal of Pakistan, they have decided to stop the attacks.
Pakistan is the mediator in the talks between America and Iran. Donald Trump has written on social media that Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir have requested him to postpone the attack on Iran.

Why did Trump give time to Iran?
Time is being given so that Iran’s leaders can formulate a unified proposal. Trump made it clear that the naval blockade imposed on the Strait of Hormuz near Iranian ports would continue. The US military will be fully prepared.
How long will the ceasefire last?
Donald Trump has described the Iranian government as a seriously divided government. He said that the US is extending the ceasefire until Iran’s proposal comes and the talks yield no results.

Donald Trump said in an interview with CNBC that if there is no agreement, he will resume the bombing. A few hours later, he changed his stance and announced an extension of the ceasefire.

What is Iran’s position?
There has been no official reaction from Iran yet to this announcement. An adviser to the Iranian parliament called it a fraud and said the losing side could not impose conditions. The second round of talks was to be held in Islamabad, but there is still uncertainty about it.
What bothers Iran from America?
Iran had previously said it would not participate in the talks due to high US demands and the blockade. US Navy has seized Iran’s ‘Tuska’ ship. There is also a fight going on over this.

Iran is calling the US action piracy. This is being considered as a ceasefire violation. With this decision, the fear of escalation of the war has reduced to some extent, but the tension between the two sides still continues. It is not yet clear when and how the talks will proceed.
