France has sent a summons to Elon Musk in the case of sexual harassment


The French government has taken concrete steps to stop deepfake photos of child sexual abuse on social media. Now the French government has sent a summons to X platform owner Elon Musk. Through subpoenas, French prosecutors have summoned Elon Musk and X Company’s former CEO Linda Yaccarino for questioning in Paris. Apart from this, the employees of the company will have to appear as witnesses in Paris. This is not the first time that the French government has sent a summons against Elon Musk, it has happened before.

French authorities have sent a summons to Elon Musk today, April 20. Laure Becua of Paris said that the people working in the X company have been called as witnesses in Paris between April 20 and 24. French authorities have not yet said when and where Elon Musk has been summoned for questioning.

What are the charges against the French authorities?

The French investigative agency claims that people are abusing the social media platform Grok AI, such as sharing a photo of an underage girl and prompting Grok to dress the girl in skimpy clothes. Then those edited photos are being circulated on social media, promoting child exploitation.

Due to this, the French government has started action against X company for the last several days. Earlier in January 2025 the office of X Company was searched. Before this raid, Elon Musk was also summoned. After this, he left the post of CEO of X Company in July.

What does the company think about the action?

According to media reports, when X Company was raided, Elon Musk believed that the raid was to impose political sanctions. Apart from France, Britain has also started an investigation against X AI. Behind the investigation is concern that sexual harassment on social media is on the rise due to the company’s gross photo features.
