Tension has increased between the US and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has closed Hormuz again on Saturday in protest against the US maritime blockade. Meanwhile, news is coming that on Saturday two merchant ships trying to cross Hormuz were fired upon. However, there is no news of any damage so far.

Iran announced the opening of Hormuz on Friday after a 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. But Trump said in a statement that the maritime blockade of Iran will continue until a 100 percent agreement is reached. Shortly after this statement, Iran announced the closure of Hormuz again.

According to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Agency, a tanker has been reported to have been fired upon 20 nautical miles north-east of Oman. The firing was carried out by two gunboats belonging to Iran’s IRGC. According to the tanker captain, the ship was attacked without any warning. However, the crew is completely safe.

Two Indian ships changed course

According to tanker trackers, two Indian vessels had to divert their way to the Strait of Hormuz after IRGC firing. Among them was an Indian-flagged super tanker. It was loaded with about 2 million barrels of Iraqi oil.

America has sent back 23 planes

About 23 Iranian ships have been returned to their ports, US Centcom said. In an expost, Centcom wrote, ‘The littoral combat ship USS Canberra is on patrol in the Arabian Sea during the US blockade. 23 ships have followed US military orders to turn back since the blockade began. The US military is enforcing a maritime blockade against ships entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas.

In response to Donald Trump’s threat, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has issued a warning on his Telegram channel. In this, he said that the brave navy of Iran is ready to make the enemies taste the bitter taste of a new defeat.
