JD Vance will not come to Pakistan, Trump said – the decision was taken for security reasons

The American delegation will reach Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, on Monday. The second round of talks with Iran will be held here on Tuesday. But this time US Vice President JD Vance will not go to Pakistan. President Donald Trump said Vance was not being sent to Islamabad due to security concerns. Before Trump’s statement, US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz and Energy Secretary Chris Wright said that JD Vance could lead the talks in Islamabad. But speaking to ABC News, Trump said Vance was not traveling for security reasons. JD is great.
On the other hand, Pakistan has also started preparing the ground for talks. On Sunday, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar spoke to Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Argachi on phone. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said that Ishaq Dar emphasized on maintaining constant dialogue and engagement with his Iranian counterpart to resolve the current issues at the earliest. The ministry also said that Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Iran’s President Masood Pejeshkian will also have a phone conversation today.

Shortly after President Donald Trump’s statement, a White House official said Vice President J.D. Vance would lead the U.S. delegation to talks with Iran in Pakistan. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the delegation would include J.D. Vance, special envoy Steve Wittkoff and Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, while Trump said Vance would not be sent to Pakistan for security reasons following the sudden announcement of the trip. The differing views of the White House and Donald Trump have created confusion ahead of the talks.
