‘Iran broke the ceasefire multiple times’, Donald Trump fumes ahead of talks

It is not yet clear whether talks between the US and Iran will take place in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has accused Iran of violating the ceasefire several times. Two regional officials said that the US and Iran have indicated their participation in the second round of ceasefire talks in Islamabad.

Officials said that Pakistan-led mediators have received information that US Vice President JD Vance and Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf will arrive in Islamabad tomorrow morning. On the other hand, Iranian television claims that no delegation is involved in the talks with Pakistan. Meanwhile, Trump’s statement has also increased the suspense. Trump wrote on his social media, ‘Iran has violated the ceasefire many times!’

Who is coming to Pakistan from America?

According to media reports, Vice President JD Vance is traveling to Pakistan along with White House adviser Steve Wittkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. However, it is not yet clear whether Iran will participate in the talks. An Iranian official had previously said that no decision had yet been made on whether to join the talks. Later said that it is being reviewed positively.

IRGC is creating obstacles

Axios reports that the IRGC is pressuring the Iranian government not to negotiate. He says there should be no talks with the US until the US blockade on Iranian ports is lifted. The government also waited for a green signal from Supreme Leader Mujtaba Khamenei, the report added. The approval was received on Monday.

The ceasefire ends on April 22

On February 28, the US and Israel attacked Iran simultaneously. After about 40 days, a two-week ceasefire was brokered by Pakistan. However, this ceasefire is ending on April 22. If there is no agreement between the US and Iran before then, there is a risk of a renewed war.
